Laos, Thailand call for two more Mekong bridges
VIENTIANE (Vientiane Times/ANN) – Lao and Thai ministries are pushing for the construction of two more bridges across the Mekong to ease the transport of goods and travel by members of the public.
Minister of Public Works and Transport Dr Bounchanh Sinthavong and his Thai counterpart Arkhom Termpittayapaisith held talks on Monday in Thailand’s Nong Khai province to reach agreement on the way forward.
Both sides completed a draft agreement on the construction of a fifth Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge linking Laos’ Borikhamxay province and Thailand’s Bung Kan province.
